The Servant Who Brings Justice | Isaiah 42 & The Longing of Advent

The Servant Who Brings Justice | Isaiah 42 & The Longing of Advent

December 1, 2025  ·  44m

Advent is not soft.
It is not sentimental.
It is not just about candles and carols.

Advent is a *summons*.

In this message from Isaiah 42, we behold **the Servant of the Lord**—the King who does not shout in the streets, who does not break bruised reeds, and who comes with the quiet violence of divine justice. Not political justice. Not ideological justice. But the **life-giving order of God breaking into a world gone wrong.**

Isaiah announces it plainly:
The world cannot heal itself.
Israel could not fix it.
Humanity could not restore what was lost in Eden.

So God Himself intervened.

This sermon explores:
• Why justice is the central theme of the Servant Songs
• How Isaiah 42 reveals Jesus as the long-awaited King
• The truth about repentance as *space-making*, not shame
• Why “progress” cannot cure the human heart
• The ache between the Advents — Christ has come, and Christ is coming
• How Jesus fulfills Isaiah 42 at His baptism and in His ministry
• What it means to live as citizens of a future kingdom in a broken present

Isaiah 59 meets Matthew 4.
Genesis meets Galilee.
The ache of creation meets the authority of Christ.

This is not a message about self-improvement.
This is about **divine intervention**.

When the prophet says, “He saw that there was no one,”
we discover the gospel:

**So God became the One.**

If you’ve ever felt:
– “This isn’t how life is supposed to be.”
– “The world is unraveling.”
– “Justice feels far away.”
– “Something is fundamentally broken.”

…then this message is for you.

The King has come.
The King is coming.
And the Servant still brings justice to the nations.

🙏 Closing Call:
Repentance is not condemnation.
It is dethronement.
It is making room for God to rule again.

Jesus’ first word was not “try harder”…
It was “Repent.”

Create space.
Come follow Him.
Join the work of restoration.
